ASSESSING AND EVALUATING MY WORK THROUGH FEEDBACK

I value the relationship building that I do with community partners and it’s so rewarding when they share how my work has affected their learners. The feedback below was shared with permission by Debbie Farrell, Program Coordinator of YESS, a youth employment program in Musquodoboit Harbour. Debbie works with young adults, connecting them with employment and education opportunities.

Meghan was very responsive to my emails about coming out to chat with us. I was blown away with her presentation and her ease of going back and forth between the students asking questions and her very prepared professional presentation. She was so personable, friendly and respectful to our students. She was so helpful with explaining details about the various programs, the correct way to apply and information about financial aid and tuition. We felt that no question was viewed as insignificant, she was a gem at her job and stood out compared to other facilitators that we have come in contact with. She also made the students so comfortable about contacting her in the future with any questions. She far exceeded my expectations.

I would welcome and look forward to Meghan coming out when we get our next group of students in the spring.

In some cases, supporting prospective students can span beyond the annual admissions cycle. My colleague received this email from a prospective student I’d been in touch with the year prior. At that time, they’d shared with me the challenges and frustrations they were feeling and their hopes to return to school. Recalling the conversation we’d had (where Appreciate Advising and Motivational Interviewing techniques were utilized), I feel glad to have been a positive interaction in this learner’s path to next steps.

Thank you so much, and later tonight when I'm off work I will definitely look at them (referring to links sent via email), last year I also had a very pleasant woman named Meghan I believe?, anyways I guess I'm like one foot in one foot out, but I really, really want to better myself or at least my career opportunity.

My relationships with high school counsellors are so key to the work that I do in high school classrooms. I aim to be a reliable source of information for these important influencers who rely on me for NSCC program and admission details. They care deeply for their students and want to see that I match their dedication in my interactions with the learners at their school.

Thanks so much!!

If I don’t talk to you again this year, thank you so much for all you have done to support me and Lindsay and our students!

You have been AWESOME!!

 Have a great summer!
